STADIUMS
A tour of the 16 host stadiums
By Mariyam Ali29 Apr 20261 min read
The 16 host stadiums for World Cup 2026 span three countries and four time zones. Mexico's three venues — Estadio Azteca, Estadio Akron, and Estadio BBVA — bring tournament heritage. Canada's two — BMO Field in Toronto and BC Place in Vancouver — both required temporary capacity expansions. The eleven United States venues range from the dome-roofed AT&T Stadium and SoFi Stadium to open-air giants like MetLife and Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Surface preparation has been the dominant story: every NFL turf venue is being retrofitted with hybrid grass to meet FIFA's natural-surface mandate.
